How to use the Biosnacky Sprouter

All Biosnacky sprouters are fairly similar in shape and function, the major differences being the size and the number of seed trays.
First soak your seeds in a jar for roughly 8 hrs, drain and then lay them out evenly on the seed tray.

Seeds must be watered minimum twice daily (I usually do it when I’m getting ready for breakfast and while I’m cleaning up after dinner). To water your sprouts you need to take off the lid and pour approximately ¼ of a litre of water into the top seed tray. The water then dribbles down slowly through the red siphons to the seed tray below (this is for the 3-tier sprouters of course), until it is fully drained into the surplus water tray at the bottom. The surplus water tray must be emptied every time before you pour the water in so that it doesn’t overflow.

Tip: The excess water is good for watering your indoor plants or the garden.

This tiered design is good because it allows you to water all layers without having to do each one separately.

After about 5-10 days (depending on the sprout) you can scoop out your sprouts and put them in a sealed container in the fridge where you sprouts will last you up to 2 weeks.

Mmmm – fresh sprouts for your sandwiches and salads!

You then wash the seed tray, either in the sink or in the dishwasher and then start again.

The advantages of the 3-tier sprouters is that you can either have 3 different sprouts going at any one time; or instead, you have the option of staggering your planting i.e. plant Monday, plant again Thursday, Plant the 3rd Sunday and so on, to allow a steady supply of sprouts for the family.

All sprouters are designed to allow good air circulation which helps to minimise mould. Mould growth can be a problem when growing sprouts because mould loves moist conditions but doesn’t like air flow.

The other major advantage to these models is the price. They’re reasonably priced and they’re tough and should last for a long time if you look after them.

They are also very easy to clean, compared to other sprouters, and easy enough to use for the kids to have a go.

Happy sprouting!
